All teakwood
« on: January 24, 2009, 04:56:43 PM »
Seachest is 3/4 thick teak epoxyed in a jig I made. The decons bench is all teakwood. The seat is one piece cut from center of tree. Still has sapwood on outer edges. All spindles were turned without a duplicator setup. In otherwords each copied by eye and measurements.  Three months to build.Bench is 6' long.

Very nice work.
I really like the chest!
Now that deer season is over maybe I can get back into it.

Real nice work!  How did you construct the trunk so that cracking & splitting won't occur down the road?
Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered - - Thomas Jefferson 1802

All seams are epoxied togeather. No screws were used other than to hold handles and hinges in place. So all endgrain is sealed.
The epoxy is" West System" brand, the same we used to make the 80' yachts.  The Decon Bench was coated with epoxy before topcoat.
Also Teak does not split as easily as oak or other hard wood. It has alot of oil in it.    Pat
