270 Nosler 140 gr Ballistic Tips
« on: January 25, 2009, 02:18:48 PM »
Has anyone used the 140 gr Ballistic Tip from Nosler?

I'm wondering how they performed on game, and were they accurate?

I had a similar question which I presented to Nosler:  How would that bullet be on deer under 100 yards?  It was sub-inch out of my .270 Tikka.

They said to use a stronger bullet.  I think I used a 150 grain bullet which worked fine with adequate but not excessive tissue damage.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

I have some that I bought for a WY. Antelope/Mule Deer hunt, but I tested the 140 Accubond first and shot a .187" (3 shot) group right off & sub 1/2" groups after that with a sporter wt. M700ADL, so I have parked the BT's for now. Besides, the Accubond has a better BC than the BT in this bullet, noteworthy because in most calibers & bullet weights the BC of the Acc. & BT is the same, but this Accubond is a good bit longer. And it expands well & penetrate comparable to the Partition, a combo too tempting to turn down fore me. I have used this bullet for Whitetails, Mule Deer & Antelope from 8 yds. to 410 yards with great results.

I guess the price was the turn on for me.  It looks like I should just go ahead and pay a little more for the accubond.
as they say... you get what you pay for  ;D

I shoot nosler 165 BT out of my 300 rem. saum and was going to load the 270 with them in 140 gr.
I was wondering if the accubonds have enough expansion if you double lung one? A 200 lb.
whitetail is a monster around here and hitting bone "front shoulder" in past experiences can cause some serious meat loss.  Having the animal DRT is my kind of tracking when you hunt next to a duck swamp.

Accubonds have plenty of expansion and they have good penetration as well.

My friend and I used them in our 7mm-08s and 25-06 this year and we were very pleased with them!
