why?
« on: January 25, 2009, 04:58:50 PM »
I find it interesting that there has not been a major(or even a minor) terrorist attack on the  U.S. since 911. Is it possible that our counter terrorism agencies have been doing a perfect job, for over 8 years? C'mon this is the govt. what else have they EVER done with such perfection. I'm glad that we haven't been attacked, but if the islamofacists are as serious and determined as we are told why haven't they been able to do anything?
I can only guess that either...
 1. Our govt. finally found a mission it can flawlessly perform.  Orrrr.
 2. Someone, or more likely some group of people has determined that it is not yet time for our next attack(s).
What do you guys think?

Considering the border and harbours are not secured, I would consider the latter more then likely.

the terrorist have to live some where they have to have friends . Maybe we have made life hard enough for their supporters that they have been told to back off for a time ? this opens up a whole new theory but it could happen . maybe its to early to slap ourselves on the back and high five each other just yet .

There have been many successes in the anti-terrorist battle that never get reported to the general public for security reasons. The Bush administration was more interested in National security than good press - unlike the Clinton and Obama administrations. When information about success is released to the general public/news agencies the terrorists are also informed as to the hows and whys that they have been caught.

It has been a learning experience for DHS and the anti-terrorist activities of DHS has evolved to keep ahead of terrorist attacks and be more proactive. I am concerned from comments made by Janet Napolitano that security could be set back years under the new administration.

The new administration has just issued a voluntary early retirement for DHS. I don't think the new administration is taking the problem seriously.

+1 we are way to easy a target if someone wants to attack. Our military has billions to play with and they are doing a great job of defending us from others that have billions to play with, defending us from icbm's and bombers and completely ignoring the fact that a good mule is a great delivery system.
the nation that forgets it defenders will itself be forgotten

just glad I don't fly or live in a big city,

I find it interesting that there has not been a major(or even a minor) terrorist attack on the  U.S. since 911. ...

I find it interesting that you actually believe that!

Do you really think our government is suppressing terrorism or is it possible they are suppressing the news of such attacks.

Our government controls everything in some fashion.
Airplane crashes are investigated and attributed to pilot error or equipment failure.
Poison peanut butter and tomatoes are simply contaminated foods.
Collapsed bridges are too old and simply fall down without warning.
Etc., etc., etc....

A couple years ago I did a detail in Washington DC.  While there we experienced a big secret shutdown of the subway that left half the city afoot.  Many blocks were cordoned off.  I have never seen so many government agencies and government vehicles in my life.
Later, in the news, they called it a simple fire in a control room.

Another day, there was a small article in the paper about a "steam release resembling an explosion" in a manhole in the street in from of the Whitehouse that killed 2 city employees.

Really?
Steam release?
City workers in a manhole in the street front of the Whitehouse?

Give me a break!!!!  I worked for the government for over 30 years and the one thing I learned is the only time they will lie to the public  is each and every time.

Suppressing news about any terrorist activity would not surprise me at all. Thank you for your input bustedknee.
