More on "book" values.
« on: January 26, 2009, 03:12:26 PM »
The so callled "blue books" of gun values are meant only to serve as a guide for prices of firearms. These books are only printed once a year.
Here's 'nuther 32-20 Classic
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=121371506#DESC
With a "buy it now of $599.00, book says $450.00 tops..
I'd be happy to pull $600 to $650.00 from my Bee.

I've been searching one of those CL's out for the past several months and the one on gunbroker is priced in line with everyone I've seen. I found a dealer who has several new ones and they are approaching $700. Actually, I'd like to get the 32-20 and the 25-20. I wish Marlin would offer them again.

I like the guntraders guide , but I only use these books for reference and manufacture dates, I have never seen the prices in the real world match up,ie see what the book says about an ak or used ar and compare to real world!!

A lot of dealers go by Blue Book as if it were the bible in what to offer on guns coming into their shop. I used to deal with one who that's the first thing he did on all trades was pull the blue book to see what to put in the gun. How they price them tho once they take them in I have no clue but it sure ain't bluebook anymore.

Just found a "CL" new, in the box and had to fork out $689 for it. The dealer had several from 1991 production so if I wanted it, that's what it would cost to buy it.
