Ruger P-90 accessory rail
« on: January 27, 2009, 06:25:28 AM »
This is probably a dumb question for those of you in the know...but..
Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket accessory rail that can be fit to a Ruger P-90 to hold lights and laser sights?

Bob,
The P90 is a good solid pistol, but haven't seen any aftermarket parts for it. Guess if you REALLY wanted to hang things on it, you could find a scope base with the proper contour, have the dust cover drilled and tapped to screw it on. You might be happier buying another inexpensive pistol with the rail. Not sure, but I think the Ruger P345 has a rail.

Savage,

Thanks, that's what I thought. I have some range hours on this pistol and I wasn't looking forward to switching. They do have triger guard laser mounts. Look weak. Any good? Also are tritium open sights good? My eyes don't focus in enough planes anymore for open sights and the standard Ruger sights are only good for white backgrounds. Any suggestions for this aging gunner?

Bob,
Tritium sights do their intended job. That is, they are visible in low/no light. Certainally no help in good light. I'm getting up in years myself. I find that the fiber optic sights work well for me. I have also had good luck painting the front sight with a bright orange paint. IMO the trigger guard mountable lasers are useless. If you want a laser sight, you might check to see if lasergrips makes one for your pistol.
Good luck!

Crimson trace makes laser grips for the P90.

I have CT grips on a couple revolvers and really like them.

I have gotten very good prices for CT Grips at Shooter's Resources in Oregon. They are out of stock for the P90 right now but give them a call or drop a note and see what they can do for you:  http://www.shooters-resource.com/category/Rug.html
