1911 FIXED REAR SIGHT ADJUSTMENT

I've seen sigs rear sight adjustment tool and thought there was one for other pistols like 1911's
any ideas? and maybe someplace to get one!

A rear sight tool can be had for about $100 from Brownell's. If you plan to change a lot of sights, it's worth the money. If you just need to change the sights on a pistol every now and then, or just want to adjust windage, use a drift punch and hammer.

Been there done that! Also saw the 100 dollar tools. Friend has a new 1911 in stainless and needs a adjustment, hes scared to mar the finish. Was hoping there might be an economical way to do it without a hammer and punch. Thanks anyway, I appreciate the response.

I hope your friend has benched his Kimber to make sure a windage adjustment is actually required. Too often it's the shooter rather than the gun. Guess he'll need to take it to a gunsmith to move the sight if needed.

Actually its a Springfield Armory Mil Spec, He did bench shoot it once he saw it shooting left 2 inches at 10 yards. It wont take much and thats the reason I hate to tap on it, well one of the reasons.  ;)

Nylon or Delryn punch, then brass.  The brass wont mar the surface of steel, if used carefully.  Also, a good, padded vise is necessary.  Last, you could use a nylon bench block cut to fit the slide AND a good C clamp, but then, with all the carving and fitting, $100 sounds pretty cheap for a good tool.
