243 WSSM Encore Heavy Contour Barrel - Where Can I Buy

Hey Gang:

I am interested in getting a 24" Heavy Contour Encore barrel in 243 WSSM caliber.  Does anyone know where I can get one?

I would think that ed's contenders would have one as he has a large stock of barrels. Best to give him a call and also note the time he is open as he is not there all the time. click on his ad on the forum for number and time, real nice to deal with.

I don't see it on anybody's list of available chamberings.  I recall some (perhaps all) the short mags were not thought to be good in the Encore because the chamber walls had to be thin.  I don't shoot or load for Encores, so I hope someone who really knows chimes in on this one.

I talked with the guys at MGM at gun show a couple weeks ago about why they don't offer 270 wsm. The guys were great they told me they don't due to pressure of short mags they will not group and split allot of cases. They said it's due to (TO MUCH FLEX UNDER THAT MUCH PRESSURE IN ENCORE LOCKUP) They said if they built ten barrels eight would get returned due to grouping all over the place. He did say with that in mind they would build me one on a no return basis. Also claiming if I reloaded I could cut back on load and barrel would shoot MOA but then why not just shoot my 270 win? They didn't feel it's a safety issue that's why he would build it for me they just don't need publicity of them building bad barrels. The guy did tell me when it was Virgin Valley they offered wsm and that was the problem they had and why they stopped!
If your set on wanting one built don't e-mail them you need to call and talk to the guy tell him you understand the problems and they might build it as he offered to build me a 270 wsm.

Not enough "meat" at the chamber end of the barrel kind of a mood point really if you are looking for a fast shooting 6mm then go with a 6mmai or 243ai.
