Need loads for T3 7mm-08
« on: January 29, 2009, 03:10:45 AM »
If any of you shoot this caliber I would like to know your best shooting loads. Factory seems to hover around 1 inch but I truely believe the Tikka can shoot better. Your help would be appreciated.

I'm a tad late, but I get tack driving accuracy with the following loads;

120gr Nosler Ballistic-Tip
49.7grs AR2209 (=H4350) with a CCI BR2 primer for 3020ft/s

140gr Barnes TTSX
49.0grs AR2209 (=H4350) with a CCI BR2 primer for 2850ft/s

175gr Woodlleigh PPSN
44.7grs AR2209 (=H4350) with a CCI BR2 primer for 2550ft/s

All had a COL of 2.830" and loaded in Remington brass.
Regards

Drew

Thanks  It took a great buck at 180 yards. Dropped him in his tracks.

I like Varget powder in this caliber, with either 120 or 139/140 grain bullets.  Hodgdon's website has some really good load data on this caliber, including some reduced loads for youngsters.  It's really my favorite hunting caliber and one you will really enjoy loading /shooting.
Yeah, I'm a rifle looney

Varget is indeed a great versatile powder. I use a lot of it. In fact the load I chose to hunt with is Varget and 120gr Nosler BT. I am still looking for a target/hunting load that will get the groups below MOA. But MOA is great for a hunting rifle.
