30-06 Varmint loads
« on: January 29, 2009, 06:11:38 AM »
Anyone have any pet loads in 30-06 for 110gr V-Max or Sierra HPs?  I will be reloading for a Rem 742 autoloader.
It's all a hot mess...........

Let's see some good loads, I'm looking to do some coyote hunting with my '03-A3 with the 110 gr. V-Max.

I shoot the 110gr V-max In my Pro-hunter 30-06.   The Best load I found was Using Varget.  Get the Hornady Manual and Work up From the Bottom .  You'll be happy If you do !

Hey Swift one,

I've had great luck with the V-max bullet in my 25-06. When my son inhereted his granpas 30-06, we tried the 110gr. and found an excellent load first try. Rem. cases, fed. mag. primers, and H322. This load in his gun chronys just under 3400fps. and is really accurate.

     Good luck, Tim.

I have preffered the 125 Nosler BT in the '06 for varmints over the light 110 gr bullets. At 3250 fps out of my M70 with 24" barrel it is more accurate and carries extremely well at longer ranges vs the 110 gr bullets.  I'd give you the load but mine is pretty close to max for a bolt gun. You've a gas gun and must consider gas port pressure.  I'd suggest you refer to a good reloading manual like Lyman's and work up loads using a powder in the middle of the ones suggested.  Always hard to go wrong with H4895 with lighter bullets in the '06.  Point is; you need to work up for your own rifles gas operated action.

I agree with Larry.
I have never been able to find an accurate load for the 100/110 bullets. BUT, the 125 sure can be!! The old sierra is a good one from long ago and Noslers excellent BT as Larry said is top notch as well.
