model 700 7mm Mag failure to eject
« on: January 29, 2009, 11:17:42 AM »
A friend of mine has a Rem 700 7mm Mag that will not eject the empty case after shooting . will eject live rounds just fine. He said he bought the gun new several years ago and has always had a problem with it . Why he never took it back to where he bought it or contacted Remington, i don't know.I was thinking of maybe trying to polish the chamber a bit. Any suggestions from anyone out there? Would appreciate it. Thanks.    (He's been using Remjngton factory ammo )

Did you mean to say that it doesn't EXTRACT fired rounds from the chamber instead of " it won't eject" ?

If so, it could be a dirty or rough chamber. There could be something wrong with the chamber itself(too small, too big or headspacing problems). He should get it checked by a gunsmith or Remington to see whats what. My brotherinlaw had a 700 in 7mag that shot great. Ya had to have a block of wood to get the bolt handle back after firing it though. He ended up sending it back and Remington rebarreled it for free.

Hey there Huntswith dogs!! Yes, i meant to say that it wont extract! Guess i had a blond moment there. I still have a little blond up there somewhere mixed with the gray. I'm going to call Remington and see what they have to say about it. Thanks very much for the reply.
