Tables of fire.
« on: January 29, 2009, 03:43:12 PM »
I have been searching via google, altavista, and a few others for Tables of Fire for various American Civil War guns.  The only one I can seem to come up with is one for a 20 lb. Parrott.  Can any of you direct me to a site that has them?

Don Lutz, Antique Ordnance Publishers, has the various tables of fire that you paste inside your limber chest.  Are you just trying to compare the ranges of various guns, or are you looking for something specific?

Both.  I do reenacting so I would like to have the tables to be able to show people.
And, since I'm starting to live fire a 3 in. ordnance rifle, it would be kind of nice to have that table as a starting point.  I know that with the lighter charge and projectile I'll have to work up my own, but it would be nice to have the 'official' one.

And thank you.  It is funny how that didn't come up in any of my searches.

Look at the bottom of the AOP Catalog page.  They cost a few bucks but you might as well spend them now before $800 billion dollars worth of inflation occurs.

Now, now (I agree) let's not (I agree) let this get political (I agree).  And, thanks, I found it after Artilleryman told me where to look.  As I said, it is odd that AOP didn't come up on any of the searches I did for Table of Fire, Artillery Table of Fire, Tables of Fire, Civil War Artillery Table of Fire, and so on.

Well, I didn't look past page 5 on any of them, so it might not be true that it didn't show up.

As I said, it is odd that AOP didn't come up on any of the searches I did for Table of Fire, ...

Their page gets so few hits that the search engines don't place it very high in their lists.  I will, however, add tables of fire to the meta keywords for whatever good that will do.
