which is better .50 Alaskan or the .50-140 in an encore

Now that I have a new project, which looks like it will be a pair of Encores an 18” to 20” rifle and a 15” to 16” pistol, I need to see which I like better the .50 Alaskan or the .50-140. I have to say both have a lot going for them. The .50-140 is old and I like my 45-70 SSK contender, so I’m leaning toward it.
I also want to know what you-all think about camo Parkerizing the pair.
HANDCANON, BIGGER IS BETTER!!!

I don't know what the 50-140 will do but 2 or 3 years ago Dennis, one of JD's machinist brought JD's 50 Alaskan to our silhouette shoot. What a riot!!! The ammo was loaded with a 647 gr. 50 BMG API bullet at 1500 FPS out of a 15 inch Encore barrel. Serveral gusy shot it at the 100 M sighter pig and the API sure made a big flash and made a crater about 1.5 inches deep. My vote is the 50 Alaskan.

The 50-140 will leave you with a tremendous amount of case to fill,  I would think unless you were planning on black powder, go with the 50 alaskan - it has plenty of power for those "short" barrels.
