Weaver 4X FOV ?
« on: August 26, 2003, 01:49:33 PM »
I am trying to find out the field of view on the Weaver 4X pistol scope.
On their web site one spec. list 8.29'@100yd.
Another spec. list 18'@100yd.
I called the factory and the ones i talked to don't seem to know.
Has anyone used this scope.
Are Weaver's any good or should I go with a Bushnell Trophy.
It is going on a Contender 14" 7-30 Waters.
Failure is not an option

As a fixed 4x it is a whole lot more likely to have an 8' than an 18' FOV. THE BEST is the Leupold 2X at 21'. Nobody's 4X is even in the ball park. Only the 1X no magnification scopes beat it and a few of the best low range variables tie it.

I have one on a Ruger Super Redhawk (barrel is almost as long a Graybeard's new toy) and have put over 1000 rounds of some pretty stiff .44 mag through the gun since it has been on it and I've had no trouble with it.  The FOV is deffinately less than the Leupold 2X or 4X (my two favorite scopes).  I would say 8-10 feet is about right for the field of view at 100 yards.  It is a bit shorter in length also than the Leupolds and costs less.  I would not say that is superior to the Leupold but for the money it is a close second.
