Model 700 Extraction Question
« on: January 31, 2009, 07:28:10 AM »
I recently bought a Model 700 in 223 Rem.  When it extracts the cartridges, they're pulled hard to the right and get all scraped up on the receiver.  I'm not overly concerned about it, but I was wondering:  is this is normal?

Yep, that's normal.  The ejector is spring loaded and is pushing it hard so when it clears the receiver ring it'll go flying out.  You can cut down the spring or replace it with a softer one or some reloaders ,who don't like to pick their cases out of the mud or snow, remove the spring and ejector and pick the case out with their fingers especially if their bench shooting.
