My H&R setup
« on: January 31, 2009, 10:53:08 AM »

My H&R TDC 12 gauge with rib barrel, replacement survivor forend and stock, slip on recoil pad, HS Strut undertaker choke, (winchoke thread pattern) firesight bead and all-purpose camo.  Tracker I smoothbore barrel in 20 gauge with factory iron sights and has been threaded for Tru-chokes.  And a 50 cal ML barrel.

I think I have everything I need… for today.

Thanks, Spanky.  The 20 has a small Florida hog to its credit and the 12 has a North Carolina winter turkey with nine inch beard, from last year’s season.  Nothing yet but paper for the ML.  Just not enough time to hunt with work and family.

I also put a survivor foreend on my 20. I keep 2 slugs and a load of #4 BUCK stored in it.

Topper,

I assume you use slugs with the 20 gauge? I was curious what kind of accuracy you are getting?

Seems like the extra weight would pull the foreend stud off the barrel under recoil.  I've heard of it happening.

Every thing is ok so far, but that definately is something to think about.....Maybe I'll just forgo the extra 3 rnds. I've never actually needed them anyway.

Kernman,
I shoot 20 gauge Federal Tru-ball 2 ¾.  I need to do some serious range time and really tighten it up on the slugs.  Right now it’ll leave a big hole, with 3 shots, in the center of a paper plate at 30 paces – roughly 40-50 yards.  The sow hog I got a couple of months back never knew I had not done a proper sighting in.  :o

How was the camo done?

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun

Markus,
I sent it to C.A.M.O. Enterprises, Roanoke, Va.  It’s All-Purpose Realtree.  It’s a photo dipping process.  I think it turned out nice and was not too expensive.

And thanks, Kernman.
