In today's global economy, you can't compete if you have high manufacturing costs, poor designs, poor workmanship and an arrogant management team that refuses to see that the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming freight train.
GM (and the other US auto makers) have basically thumbed their noses at the automotive needs of the US populace and focused only on their short term profit goals.
The last three cars I had were a Nissan Sentra, which went over 180,000 miles with only basic maintenance and was then sold to a family member who put another 100,000 on it with only a clutch change, a Buick that died after 110,000 miles, and now a Toyota truck that appears to be bullet proof.
I hate to see working folks lose their jobs, but I have no sympathy for the GM managers or the union leaders that did nothing but stand in the way of progress.
