Why not mill the aftermarket sight, not the slide?

Since some manufacturers don't like their slides altered for warranty purposes, why not mill the sight?  Seems that a nice carbide mill would do the job on most any sight that is larger than the dovetail that it is going in to.

I know it is a "get it right the first time", but so is milling the slide.

Kinda what I was wondering. Maybe a real, genuine gunsmith will chime in and share his (her?) thoughts.
