Accuracy of Winchester rifled 20 gauge slugs
« on: February 01, 2009, 01:37:40 AM »
Walmart has these for about $12 for about 15 rounds, as I recall.

Has anyone tried these?

I thought about trying these in my smoothbore 20 gauge barrel, with modified choke, and bead sight.

Seems like a good deal. Any idea why they are going so (relatively) cheap?

The winchester slugs will work just fine in your 20 ga.and Thats pretty much the standard price for the foster type rifled slugs. Buy some now, but watch for the price to go lower in a few weeks. W-mart doesn't lke to store ammo from year to year.

FLNT4EVR,

I'm not sure they will last that long, given that people are apparently stockpiling ammo these days.

On the other hand, they have been sitting there for at least a couple weeks.

Good point. It's probably better to get whatever you can when you can.

I checked at my Walmart today.  The had the Winchester and Remington rifled slugs, both priced at $8.97 for a box of 15.  That's last years price.  I will need to go and get some this week.  At that price, I'm not gonna be picky.  I didn't see any of the Rems in 12ga , that's what my Tracker I really likes, but I will work with the Winchester and they should be fine.  I will just have to shoot a few and make sure I know where POI is in relation to POA.
