FALL CAT CHASERS

Are any of you guys getting  excited for a fall catfish adventure or are you just getting excited for some cooler weather and the start of hunting seasons?

Last sept was the first time I had tried any serious fall fishing, and my luck was outstanding.  So naturally I'm getting excited to go on a fall catfish expedition, the trouble is  sept hasn't even got here yet and I think all the weekends are already spoken for.  The first weekend is the traditonal dove hunting weekend, the second weekend is the opener of archery deer, and muzzle loading antelope, and the third wknd is our state trappers convention.  Jeez, guess I'll have to skip work for a few days.

 so are any of you guys getting excited or making plans for a fall cat adventure?

my schedule looks a like it's filling up sadly enough. And none of it will be spent in the water or woods.
this week i have to go and rip shingles off a roof then go to a b-day party and sunday i'll be cutting wood. next week i'll be preparing for the woods because i'm getting my dozen arrows back. the week after that god only knows what will be going on.
I haven't gone for catties in about a month!!!

How many folks are still catching cats?

How many folks up north still have 50* water?

How far south has the peak of the fall bite moved?

Cats are biting well in Oklahoma. The blues bite all winter, in fact some of the biggest are caught in January and February.

I have read and read about blues in the winter, but never tried em yet.
Once we start chasing Deer and coyotes its hard to stoke the catfish fires. But I know that once I get around to trying it I will have one more wallet draining lifestyle to support.  But, what do you work for? To support the activities that make living worthwile. Thats what.

Work, what's that ? Hahaha.....man I'm about 99% retired.

Yep winter is traditionally hunting season around here too. We try to kill our share of deer, ducks, and a wild hog now and then. As far as fishing, winter has always been considered crappie time, but the Okies are learning that the blues stay active as well, and they are quite tastey on the table......some say better than crappie.

Those sunny unseasonably warm days we get around January and February when most hunting seasons are over are a good time to get after the big blues.
