500 Handi strikes again
« on: February 02, 2009, 02:20:49 AM »
I killed a nice 8 pt. (17 3/4" inside spread) Saturday, the last day of the Mississippi season. The load was a 410 gr. LFNGC @ 1800 fps. It dropped him in his tracks. A good way to end the season!!!  :)

GREAT news!!  Glad its worked well for you!!

Mine in my hands is still a virgin...  :o ;) My pop has a deer with it about two years back and my buddie shot one in a "You got a gun in the truck? yup, why? There is a big deer in the back field"  ;D last year. I just haven't been in the right place at the right time. This last year I hunted mostly with my long colt and Maxi.

How about telling all of us the story about the hunt, I'd really like to hear it as I'm sure others would also.

GOOD SHOOTING!

I'd been hunting out of a climber all morning. I got down at 10:30, and went back at 2:30. I had a bunch of squirrels playing back behind me, making all kind of racket. At 5:30 I heard something back behind me, and assumed it was a squirrel. I glanced back, and the 8 pt. was walking about 40 yds. from me, headed to the cutover. As soon as he got past the tree I was sitting in I picked my rifle up, cocked it, and put a big ole bullet, tight behind the front shoulder. He hit the ground DRT, it got dark 20 minutes later, and just like that deer season was over.
