Taurus 941 ..22 mag.
« on: February 02, 2009, 02:05:24 PM »
Want to start carrying more often. I have a Taurus 941 in .22 Mag. I want to carry concealed, but it has a 4" barrel and wood grips.
  I expect I can swap someone for rubber grips...but a 4" barrel.??
How tough is it to put a 2" barrel on it in place of the 4" barrel? Is a costly set of parts required?  Anyone here ever done it ?

Don't quote me on this, but your barrel should come off just like a S&W, and BTW the 22 Mag makes a real hard hitter up close and personal like.  I had several friends that worked very undercover and because the 22 Mag was so small and flat in the little 2 shot High Standard they said the round was devistating a belly gun.

Montanan,
Thanks, but since I am more "rifle" than "handgun"..I'm not even sure how a S&W is replaced. Picture shows threads, but are shims or some other method used to assure sight alignment and cylinder gap?
BTW: Does using crocus cloth in the cylinder to polish, sound like a good way to stop the empties from hanging so firmly? As I said, I have only run about a full box of rounds through it and that Winchester Supremes. Perhaps regular 40gr, less hyper rounds would chamber better..
