Non-resident hunting license
« on: February 02, 2009, 02:37:34 PM »
Just went on the Tx. site and took a look at license fees, etc.  Ya'll got about as many different kinds of license as can be thought up!  If I come down and hunt feral hog, how many of these license do I need?  I have kin folk in Texas that want me to come and hunt with them.

It appears I can get a year long non resident permit for $300.00, or a 5 day for $45.00.  O.K., so good, but do I need:  Non resident special hunt at $125.00?  Or how about deferred hunter education at $10.00.  Do I need that?  How about annual public hunt permit at $48.00, or if we hunt a lease, that can run from $75.00 up to $240.00.  There is also a fee for state parks!!!!!!!!

Things are a might simpler here in Georgia.  Not so many categories.

Perhaps it would be cheaper to get caught and pay the fine?  I just don't know.

Hey, Ben. If you go to the Outdoor Annual part of the site under regulations then scroll down the PDF pages under licenses, the explain which license is good for what animals. The $300 non-resident is good for any animal except certain uncommon animals like desert bighorn, alligator, pronghorn, etc., that require special permits. Good public hunting in Texas is scarce. Better off spending the money on hunting private property.

Thanks Mohawk,

I've turned it over to my son in law who lives there to set it up.  I really just want to go hog hunting, and I understand they are non-game there anyway.

Yes, they are not regulated as a game animal. They can be hunted day or night, with anything from your fists to an anti-aircraft gun as long as you are on private property, which is 97% of the state anyway. You will have fun..... ;)

I THINK THE 45 DOLLAR LICENSE COVERS A 5DAY,'SMALL GAME ONLY'.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO READ THE SPECKS AND BE SURE. THAT DOES INCLUDE HOGS I THINK, BUT NOT BIG GAME.
