Another Elite 4200 Vs. Monarch Question
« on: August 27, 2003, 08:43:56 AM »
I recently got a Remington VSSF 22-250 and currently am using an el cheapo Bushnell Banner 6X18 that I have had for a while.  I do mostly target shooting and although the present scope does a pretty good job, I want to get a good scope for the gun.  I am being encouraged by friends to get a Nikon Monarch 6.5X20 target dot but I have been reading a lot of good things about the Bushnell Elite 4200 6X24.  I have priced them both and can save about 50 bucks on the Bushnell.  Would like to hear anyones opinion.  thanks

You can't go wrong with either one of them.  Both are great scopes.

I agree with Jon - both are great scopes.  The added advantage of the Elite 4200 is that it has rainguard, which may - or may not - be super helpful for your .22-250 shooting/hunting.  Still, I like the Elite 4200s a smidgen better than the Monarchs.

On the other hand, keep in mind that Bushnell is now offering the free rain parka with a purchase of an Elite 3200 or 4200 scope.

I can only speak experience on the Monarch and can tell you they are excellent optics.  I have a Leupold VariX-III and I'm rapidly growing more found of the Nikon Monarch UCC.   This hunting season will tell more.  Good luck.

High Brass,

I could not agree with you more.  The Nikon Monarchs are a great scope for the money.
