You think the RNC filled the jails in St. Paul last fall?, all the jails on the east coast would be full if a march like that was to happen. All it would take was a few troublemakers to blow the whole thing up. No thanks, I think gun owners worry the pols much more when they are spread throughout the country, not all in a mass where they can be controlled, jailed, or worse.

I would love to see everyone go armed, and have good rank and file leadership.

A number of years ago I attended a 2nd Amendment rally in Trenton, NJ right along side my then Pastor of the church I belong to.   As I recall it was peaceful and no arrest were made but we did get our point across.

Don't know if I'll be making the trip to D.C.  Depends on what goes down on the political seen in the next couple of months.

Million gun owners march is thinking much too small.  It needs to be 80 million gun owners march on DC.  That might get someones attention.

I will never happen. Most gun owners have JOBS and RESPONSIBILITIES...unlike some segments of society that organize regular "marches on DC." 3 come to mind specifically.
This that I do, I do by my own free will.

I would also point out some unfortunate realities.
Most likely, this type of event will not get much, if any, press coverage.  If it did get any coverage, it would be to minimize the event.  In addition they would seek out individuals who could give it the most negative image.
If it was a large event, and nothing bad happens, then it looks kind of lame.  The powers that be already know who we are, and what our numbers are.  I doubt a simple march would do much to impress these people, unless the number of participants numbered in the millions.
If things got out of hand, and turned ugly somehow, that would get coverage, a hostile press would then turn on gun owners, and the 2nd amendment in the worst way.

Several years ago the "Promisekeepers", a Christian men's movement sent several million to Washington during the Klinton administration.  The media downplayed it and didn't say much about it.  If it was done then it can be done again peacefully.  I like the idea of black powder weapons to since they are not modern and don't require background checks.  Address congress and president with a short list of items we want.
1) No new gun control laws
2) Nationwide CC reciprocity law

I also think that nonviolent convicted felons who have done their time, should be able to defend themselves in the future.  Such as an embezzler or bugler who was caught with no weapons.  Given enough time like 5 years after they get out with no convictions of anykind.  Or someone who had a restraining order during a bad early marriage but is now several years later, remarried or such with no record.  I know of a friend who had this problem in his 20's and now in his 40's who can't buy a gun.  Even illegal drug use when someone was young can keep you from getting a weapon.  People can grow up and change, laws should recognise this.

We had a rally in Tally many years ago.  Have rallies in each state capital rather than DC.  50 states, all holding rallies.

A higher probability of turn outs due to reduced travel.

Each state would have coverage.

I like this idea.  Especially if they were coordinated to take place all on the same day in all 50 states.

we had Marion Hammer, a couple of state senators and Joh Gutmacher, attorney here in Florida.  I believe they coordinted the event.  We had people show from Miami.  We filled the Capitol Square.  It took me about five hours to get there.  Spent the night on the way back.

There should be someone from NRA, GOA, Jews for Preservation of Second Amendment that could start the word in each state.

I personally think that each state should have a march on its capital on the same day and at the same time.  Not everyone could make it to DC, but most people could hitch a ride to their state capital.

I'm voting 3rd party in this election by writing in Jesus Christ for president.  Sadly even if this were an option most of you would still vote Republican because "It's a two party system."

You put it under the umbrella of states rights protesting the national government passing laws we don't agree with.  Kinda like minute men.

Yes, I think it needs to be in Washington DC.  My state is very good with gun laws.  We have a castle doctrine, cc law, etc.  Most southern and western states are this way.  Washington is the major problem, not the states.  I also like the Million Man Musket March for a name.

A timed event in all of the state capitals on the same day would certainly get national attention, and would probably draw a larger crowd, How many do you think can afford to take a week off to travel from Alaska to DC? I know I couldn't but I can make a trip to Frankfort here in KY and would do so if we do this. If not I probably will not make it to DC, as much as I'd like to.

State capitals are our link to the national capital, Let the networks know we are doing this and they will be there.
