Yeah ya did.  Here's what you missed.

"We are against the Blair Holt's Firearms Licensing & Record Sale Act of 2009, also known as H.R. 45, which we believe is unconstitutional, and takes away the individuals rights, which was prooven to be a right by the US Supreme court in 2008. This bill will not only limit this right, but infringe on individuals, and privacy."  Dale the why should be given the act is for gun control, and the petition is anti-gun control.

I will make no claims to the legitimacy of the site above, but I will say that stopping this bill is VERY important.  Here is a little info about it.

The Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act is pending federal legislation in Congress.  The bill was introduced on January 6, 2009 by Representative Bobby Rush of Illinois. The main objective of the bill is to provide for stricter gun control. A person would be prohibited by law from possessing a firearm unless approved by a state run system or been issued a license that would have to be renewed every five years within thirty days of the expiration date.  The Attorney General would set up a tracking system of all sales with dealers having to be licensed. Production figures of each licensed manufacturer would be made public.  All those current licensed gun owners would have two years to become certified by the Attorney General or risk losing private property or becoming a criminal.
The bill has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

The AnnistonStar our local newspaper had this to say about it.

"If this legislation becomes law, Americans who are in the market for a firearm will have to meet these requirements:

Pass a complex written test by the U.S. attorney general in order to make a purchase; pay a $25 fee for the ability to purchase a firearm; give authorization to access all medical records that contain information about the buyer's mental heath; give fingerprints and photo ID for government records."

Thanks Heather for explaining in more detail. When you click the link it is not clear what the whole thing is about. I sure hope this does not pass. Dale

No offense, but after reading that, I think you should post your letter here before sending it to congress.  Some of us would be glad to help with editing.

I just heard a guy on fox news say that Holt's bill is in the stimulus bill that is about to be passed. It was the rep. from New Hamsure that is doing the state's rights thing.

From the NRA-ILA website:

Rumors and the Economic Stimulus Bill

Friday, February 13, 2009

We have been hearing many rumors, and receiving many inquiries, about "buried" provisions in the federal economic stimulus bill that would negatively affect our Second Amendment rights.  People have claimed the bill would designate interstate highways as national parks, or impose ammunition encoding and new ammunition taxes.  Fortunately, and contrary to what you may have heard, there are no provisions in this bill prohibiting firearms or ammunition anywhere, or for anyone.

The only reference in the bill to firearms is a provision authorizing funds for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' (BATFE) "Project Gunrunner," which is a program that enforces existing laws to reduce smuggling of firearms from the United States to Mexico.  This program imposes no new restrictions on gun owners, and if it did, we can assure you we would take swift action.

Needless to say, NRA, as a single-issue organization, takes no position on the economic stimulus legislation as a whole.

For more information and to view the legislation yourself, you can visit http://www.readthestimulus.org/.  The site features a convenient search function and covers every version of the legislation.
