Scoped Ruger SRH
« on: February 06, 2009, 02:37:00 PM »
I recently read an article in a handgun magizine about the Ruger SRH.  This author had 3 sighting systems on his SRH , a scope , laser grips , and open sights.  He claims he sighted in the scope for a particular load , then removed it , sighted in the opens with another load ......and of course the laser grips were sighted in with yet another load.  My question ....can the scope/rings be removed ( as a unit of course) and replaced with out affecting the zero ?  Does anyone do this ?  I know the Weaver detachable system works , but I never gave it a thought it would work on the SRH.  Or maybe even the Hunter series revolvers from Ruger ?  If it works sounds like a good idea.....

You would be close, but I doubt it will be perfect. I have done it, but the scope needed to be tweaked to get it back on target.

Glad to hear that you've tried it , RH 1 .  Thats kinda what I figured , I couldn't imagine it would hold a perfect zero.  I was hoping it would work , I thought about using the open sights for 45C and the scope for the 454's..........I'll try it anyway.   Thanks ,  irold

I've also done it and yes, it needs to be tweaked. ;D

if you are consistent with the scope mounting I have found mine never is off more than an inch at 50 yards (blackhawk hunter)

My RSH`s in 454 and 44 (tried them with 3 different set of rings) - shoot the first shot about 6" high and a little bit to right at 110 yds - when remounting the scopes  :(. The second shot a little lower.  The third shot is POA  :)

Sverra , not sure what you refer to....the rings made the way they are , they almost have to go back the same every time. ( within reason )    I am talking about leaving the scope mounted in the rings...just removing the rings , scope and all from the top of the revolver....maybe I misunderstood you ??   Thanks

When I remove the scope (scope is not removed out of the rings) - I have to shoot 3 shots before POA is correct.

And with 6" in difference at 110 yds - I can`t use it as I want to.

OK , think I got it now.....I just mounted a Leo 2X on my Ruger bisley hunter , most of my shooting is around 50 -60 yards...I'll see how it works.  Thanks
