WC820 Primers.
« on: February 07, 2009, 06:12:59 AM »
I recently purchased a jug of surplus WC820 powder. The label stated that the loads should be 10% less than H110. Seems OK to me. In my Lyman manual for 44 magnum loads, large pistol magnum primers are suggested for use with H110. So, should I use magnum primers or stick with my regular primers (CCI large pistol) for reloads of WC820 in 44 Magnum? Any ignition problems with regular primers and WC820?

BTW, I reload for my Dan Wesson, S&W 629, T/C Contender, and Puma mod. 92 all in 44 Magnum.

Thanks
Mike

??? WoW! I thought this forum would be the end-all for reloading questions. Does anybody here use WC820 for any reason?

I have been looking at the surplus powders for awhile now. Particularly the WC820. Last time I ordered powder, I couldn't find any WC820. I'd load up a few using the standard LPP and check for signs of incomplete or erratic ignition. If none are present, I'd go with that. If you find signs of incomplete ignition, and no pressure signs, I'd try the MLPP. That's my approach, proceed at your own risk.

Ive done tons of testing with it and have came to the conclusion that your wasting your time with anything but a cci 350 if you want the best results.

Than you gentlemen. I had a feeling Mag. primers would be the choice, but in times like these primers are hard to get, at least around here (L.A.). The last two purchases of primers had to be done online as no retailers in my area had any primers. >:(
