Sighting in SKS
«

I want to sight in my SKS, since I just mounted my knew scope. I vaguely remeber hearing that sighting in a 7.62 x 39 dead on at 25 yards should also make it dead on at 100 yards. Is this true? I am shooting wolf 122 grain hollow points, since I picked up a 500 round bulk at Cabela's. Please help...

I don't know about the 25 yards thing, but the only way I would sight in a scope on a SKS is by taking it off. I have never seen a scope mount for a SKS that would hold a zero. They just don't mount solid enuff, My 2 pennys worth anyway.

I've never had luck doing the whole "sight in at 25 yards, dead on at 100 yards" thing. My best luck was to site in at 25 yards and then move back to 50, then back to 100 yards. This way, you should always be on the paper.

I do the 25 yards to 100yards thing it works for me what ever it does at 25 is almost the same at 100. My hunting buddy has a SKS with "Leapers" scope and mount and it works just fine but pass 100yards I wouldn't bother that particular rifle wasn't accurate past that.

It depends on what ammo your using in the sks. I heard the white boxed winchester ammo is as accurate as the norinco ammo in the sks. The russian barnaul ammo is suppose to be very accurate too.
My chinese paratrooper sks at 100yds using norinco ammo benchrested will shoot 1 1/2" groups. My 20" barreled sks scoped will shoot under 1" groups at 100yds more like 1/2" but the scope came loose as the last adjustment was made to it. I now have a mosin nagant style scopemount on it.
