I would like to build a couple weasel boxes this year. What should the dimensions be? What size traps should I use inside?

Howdy: I make mine with these dimensions. Bottom is 12"x6"; Top is 12"x6"; sides are 12"x6"; ends are 6"x 5" and in one end I cut with a hole saw a 2" diameter hole. The hole is as near the top of the end piece as I can make it. Cut the pieces first and put them together before nailing to see how they fit. I use a #1 longspring or a #1 coil positioned so when the ermine steps in through the hole, he lands directly on the pan. On small ermine it results in a mid-body catch and they are DOA. On big weasels, 12" or larger you may get a leg catch. If the box is rattling when you get there, be ready for an experience. A rock on the top lid is a good idea in case you get a big one.
Oh, I use plywood, 3/8 inch is ideal. Put them out early with corn in them so the mice use them. The smell will attract ermine when your ready to trap them. Add red meat at the back of the box for bait. Beaver works, but I would get some of Asa's weasel lure to make it a sure thing.

If gophers are any indication, I too am sold on the Victor rat traps inside the weasel boxes. They are cheap and extremely effective. I messed with coils this summer, and had poor results, went to jumps and had much better luck. I tried the rat traps, and have had 100% behind the neck kills on the last 19 gophers. With a baited trigger staring them in the face, the feet never leave the hole, and most have been dead with their teeth still on the trigger. I can well imagine a chicken liver, or peice of muskrat wired to the trigger will be a good system. I haven't tested the concept on ermine, but I can't think of why these won't prove to be very efficient.
