Carbine barrel or pistol ??

I bought a barrel today , its a 30 herrett stainless steel. From the beggining of the chamber to the crown is 14 inches , then there is a peice added on that is 4 1/8 inches long with a muzzle tamer for a total of 18 1/8 inches . if The added on peice is threaded it is tight enough you cant get off without damageing everything . The question is , Is this a carbine barrel or pistol barrel ?

If the extension can be removed (whether you damage the bbl or not isn't necessarily relevant to the BATFE) then its a pistol bbl.  If its <quote> permanent <unquote> and over 16" then its a carbine.

The question I think you are asking is whether or not your bbl extension is permanent - without looking, and/or without being a lawyer - no one on the 'net will be able to say for sure.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but the difference is a felony - so make sure before you hang that bbl on anything with a buttstock.
