M97 .22LR
« on: February 10, 2009, 10:43:40 AM »
Saw a used M97 5 1/2" .22LR at the last Vegas gun show and bought it ($1300) I love this gun! Now I want a 97 in 357, hope to find a used one, hard to justify buying new but will be hard to find exactly what barrel length I want. I was at the small/junkie local gun show this weekend and too my surprise there was a man walking around with a nice 5 1/2" 97 .45 colt with black grips and a lanyard ring for $1700.00 like new in the box, I was surprised how light it was, I think a 357 would be the perfect weight/recoil combination for me (I'm a wuss)!

My answer is no. If you are buying a handgun that costs you mega bucks-- wait for the handgun you want. I own a  Moedel 83 in both a 22lr and a 44 mag. Both are the same triggers and bbl lengthes. It took me almost 3 years to aquire both handguns. I am happy I waited. Both will last me till the day I die. I hope this helps. Rod in Pa.

I have a model 97 .357 4-1/4", and I'm looking for a 5-1/2" .22lr!

The 97 is just big and heavy enough for me to handle full power .357 magnum ammo. I've had mine for about 6 years now. I'm looking for that perfect compliment, a .22lr/.22mag convertable 97 with wood grips. I hope to order mine next month.
