some of the best stuff comes from the conversation that ensues from a topic. what would you do if, during a conversation, someone cut you off everytime the topic flexed? it wouldnt have much, if any, flavor.

Just curious as to what you meant by "Flexed", never heard it used in that context before.

I never said I couldn't afford fruit. I simply stated that because of its high price I wasn't paying for it. As far as there being a computer in my house it is essential to the maintenance of this wonderful site and our income.

Yeah... Since I to work from home a lot, I look at the internt as a working expense, much like putting gas in my truck. I don't have cable tv, and the one truck payment is the only debt that I have. Now that my work is steady, i am able to buy "luxurys" on occasion.

What is heather depriving her children of? What am I depriving my child of? Were not the ones short on work and telling everyone about it, then getting pissed b/c people want to offer advice or suggestions...

i don't care what myronmans motives are i don't know him but he seems like a good person
dale is a long time friend of mine so i don't think my motives will be called into question
myronman is wright and dale needs to listen

same with any one that smokes or in any waste money and compromises their health and finances
when a child is dependent on them for guidence through life and support

the saved him from the conditions you forced him to live under
the regular meals
the protection from the elements
the regular trips to the vet
enslaved to chase rabbits for your enjoyment

The price of fresh fruit around here is just ridiculous so I haven't purchased any in quiet some time.

Till the late spring summmer and fall when the local fruit is available the cost of such products are high due to being imported 1/2 way around the world quickly so it will not spoil.

My two older boys showered me with hugs and kisses because I bought some canned pineapples, peaches, and some other assorted canned fruit the other day. At first I thought how sad it was that my boys viewed canned fruit as a luxury, then upon futher reflection it touched my heart at how appreciative they are.

Canned fruit is good on Ice Cream. laura's kids loved the canned peaches from Cost Co and I was buying three jars every time I went there just for them. All the sugar syrup is not so good for them. I too like how your kids are greatful and thank you. Bet they even say sir and Maam at the end of an answer.

I can not find the post where someone said that you can eat crap out cheaper than good food at home. But unfortuneatly he is right but we should not do anything about it. Transprotation/ energy costs are what is increasing food costs. And if you want to add some tax to "junk food" where will it stop? Taxes will be added to everything raising the costs of everything and inflation will be as bad as under Carter.
As for Dale, He can spend his money anyway he wants. If he wants to have a beer or two watching the game, great as long as it does not take away from needed items. If beer/ booze makes it on the need list rather than the want list there is a problem. making a joke about a drinking town and having a football problem is a joke. Have the liberals gotten you all to be so PC we can not tell jokes anymore? If you have or had a problem with what ever (insert bad habbit here) and it bothers you that he can joke about it. The be bothered. You can ask if he needs or wants help if you care but with Myronman telling him he is ignoring his daughter and her needs is a little too much, I am assumeing that Dale is not his next door neighbor or brother in law and knows he has a problem.
Who knows for Dale a bad year may be only 20 million a year.

Well not buying fruit for the kids cause in ones opinion it cost to much ?

Guess if someone really wanted to help Dale or anyone else IMHO they should send it in a private way not for all to read . That is if you really want to help and not grandstand and try to appear a saint .

Sending a PM to a person in need largly goes ignored. Dale has made his problems public, he can recieve opinions in public as well, or just not post them. Its once thing to take others advice into consideration. Its another for getting pissed that they are talking about your lifestyle after you have made it public.

the thing you are overlooking mcwoodduck is that around here, you get to know people pretty well. and i remember MANY posts where dale discusses his situation, and what he is currently up to (rum and cokes). we all get to know each other quite well here at gbo. some open up more than others, but you still know a lot about other members if you have been around any time at all.

everyone at work that has seen the families halloween pictures love them. and we ran into a bunch of folks i know that night when we were eating and everyone got a good laugh out of it. and you guys continue to have fun with it, so i would say the plan worked and is still working.
