Finding serenity under tyranny

How are you finding serenity under tyranny? I've resolved to keep a positive attitude, and to go on the dole if I need to.

In my opinion serenity is a state of being at complete peace within yourself.  If one experiences true serenity then no outside influence can effect that at all.  If you are truly content with yourself and your life then even death or impending doom shouldn't negatively effect you.  Take one day at a time, think positively but expect and prepare for the worst.  Don't ignore the bad but embrace it as a chance to experience something different and a challenge to yourself.  I personally feel that as long as I don't lay down and relinquish my personal liberties and freedom I will be able to sustain serenity.

Careful Heather- you might get banned for expressing an opinion that differs from that of the administration!

Kinda like Heather, I take it one day at a time and stock up on what I can when I can to prepare for what may come.

I enjoy the time I have w/ my family.  I try not to get to discouraged when I see that all the problems that have come down on us will effect my children more than they will me...

(matt, that was a joke!)

Matt tolerates a lot, but he doesn't handle childish sarcasm well.  Trust me on this one.

myself... am going to sit back and watch the show.  there is nothing funnier than watching a group of 'like minded' ideologues turn and start to eat each other.   all these folks that think they know better than us simple folk, sit back and watch them self destruct, back stab, and destroy each other.

Well since we are going to foot the bill and we have no choice,  I think I kind of like sitting back and watching Obama's presidency kind of cave in.  People will start to wonder where all the stuff is he ran for pres on....they already are wondering where the transparency is (can't read this latest bill until they vote on it, too many of us calling in I guess)...they will try the "Bush left us this mess" thing for a while...then "well, it's worse than we thought"  will kick in, then our big 13 dollar per week tax cut will go back to zero, and if your in a blue state like me, those will go up.  After a while the blame on them thing doesn't work, our governor here in Michigan wore than one out long ago.  The people here that voted for her are not happy with her anymore after she taxed us into the ground and forced people out.

Might as well have a drink and watch the show.  Smile real big, it helps take the edge off

Well, most of of sensible people will.  Those that voted him in, on the other hand, will be the horse that rides him into one of the most popular presidency's of this nation.  The press is behind him, the majority of the nation is behind him, so i fear it will be a long wait.  Bama  Obama is a poll based president.

Edited for content, sorry Heather!

I guess you didn't get the memo SSS.  Bama is word here that is banned by GBO rules from using it to refer to our pres.  Remember that it is mine, Matt, and GB's homestate.  We don't like it to be confused with scum.

Ouch... my deepest and most sincere apologies to heather, matt, and bill, also to any other citizens of the fine state of Alabama, my aunt and uncle included... I am terribly sorry for that statement and will edit accordingly!

I think that Obama's approval rating will drop sharply when all of his voters realize that he can't or won't follow through with his campaign promises.  We simply can't give everyone a government handout, bail out the economy, increase the troop presence in Afganistan, and become wind energy friendly at the same time.  I'm not an economist, but I do know that when you have X amount of budget, you can't spend X to the power of x.

On the OT, I find it easy to stare into the face of this "impending financial doom" without worrying too much.
I live well right now, but I have been cold and hungry.  I know what its like, and I survived it.  Things can't get so bad that I don't wake up each morning and do what I need to do.
