A commercial air-liner crashed this morning killing fifty people. It was posted here today, and the most emotional response was by one who was dissapointed that it wasn't fifty mexicans! I have made some posts that i regret, but I can't believe that there Is no sympathy here. There is more sympathy for a cat that is used for shark bait than for fifty people?

I believe that the world is being desesnsitized to pain and suffering, mostly through the media and tv programs.  I feel truly sorry for all of the victims and their loved ones, just didn't post about it, at the time I saw no reason to. Even the attrocities by the Godless ones barely get notice anymore, just more news. By the time most kids reach their early teens they have seen hundreds of murders, rapes, robberies, etc, all for entertainment on tv. Then we have the violent video games, so called music, etc. Yes, we as a whole have been desensitized by our own devices. POWDERMAN.

Well, first of all, you need to get your facts in a row mirage.  Your constantly out to stir the poo, this is no exception.

There were lots of posts of people offering condolences.  I myself offered my condolences.  Everybody feels bad for the family's that lost their loved ones.  The previous post I made was a joke intended at the title. Not those killed.  Its not any worse than telling a joke at a persons funeral visitation.  I do it all the time? Improper?  Depends. 

My outlook on the world is that if I can make one person laugh during such a sad time then I've done my job. I'm I popular for it? I don't really give a damn either way, b/c seeing a smile on one of my friends or family members face means that for a very brief time, I've made them forget about the pain.  The world is full of pain and suffeing, death, tradgedy, trauma.  I like to smile.  So does everybody else. Hell most people, I would think William would be one, would like to see most people at a christian persons funeral smile, because we all know they are in a much better place. 

Most of the time all we here on this forum is depressing end of creation stuff.  So one topic got interrupted by a bit of dark humor.  I've been publicly spanked by mirage, the moral policeman.

Oh and consequently mirage.  Posting facts that you know aren't true is a bannable offense.  I think your close enough to that point that you should stick to yes and no answers for a while.

PM that is a very, very true statement.  I was at the doctors office the other day with my wife.  My 4 year old was had picked up a magazine w/ a truck on the back of the cover.  A min later my wife took it away from him because Newsweek had a photo of a dead Palastinian child being lowered into the grave.  Why should a 4 year old every have to witness that?  I don't watch tv around the house anymore because even the commercials before primetime have scenes of blood and dead people.

Since THIS is a bickering thread, I will say this... Where are you with your moral suggestion to anything that billy, beerbelly, or anyone else says inappropriate.  If your looking for an apology, then look elsewhere friend.  There are moderators in place to sort out inappropriate language, speach, and phrases that they deem right wrong or otherwise.  Mirage himself has been warned by matt on countless occasions.  Heather, (whom I respect greatly for her stances and fair opinions) did not express any views on my "joke". Had she, I would have immediatly removed it.  I don't really know you william, but i have agreed with you on several instances.  I choose to disagree with you here.  I don't know you or respect you enough to remove, edit, or apologize. 

Now, Bill, Matt, Heather, or Myronman, they are a different story.  Should ANY of them tell me I am out of line I will immediatly remove my post and apologize, because they have earned my respect.

Yes there is. A man can get by with beating his wife (even when the police are called to this domestic dispute) but you better not dare be accused of mistreating an animal. You will be cuffed & hauled away

I didn't react here, but when I saw the news article my reaction was that I felt sorry for all people involved, and thought it was a terrible shame, but didn't want comment on it further or engage in any socializing on it. It's a sad thing.

Such things will happen occasionally in bad weather, and it's one of the risks we take.

The same day, it is likely that 110 people died in auto accidents. There is no mass mourning for them. Today another 110 will die, and the day after that and the day after that. 40,000 people die in auto accidents in this country every year. Where is the sorrow for that?

Couldn't agree more w/ that statement Questor.  The only things that are certain in life are death and taxes.  Death surrounds every person every day.  Bad things happen to good people.  Good things happen to bad people. 

Planes crash, people die, trains hit cars.  Some drunk piece of trash somewhere tonite is going to plow into a car with a single mom and child in it. The mom might die, or the child. The drunk will probably live, they usually do.  A woman will be raped.  A man will die of a heart attack.  A soldier somewhere will die today.  Somebody will be diagnosed with cancer. A child with cancer will go through chemotherapy and feel like her veins are on fire.  Somebody will get stabbed, another shot, another person will drown.  A truck somebody is working on will fall on him.  Somebody will  be paralized.  A rich man might win the lotto today.  Somebody's arm might get ripped off in a farm accident.  A child will get into the kitchen cabinet and drink household cleaner.  Somewhere right now a child is getting beat. Maybe molested.  Right now a person is in a casino losing all their money.

Once again the bartender says no.  The duck asks for grapes again.  The bartender says... "duck!  I swear if you ask me for grapes one more time i'm gonna nail your webbed feet to the top of the bar!" The duck leaves.  The very next day the same duck walks into the same bar and asks... "bartender, have you any nails?"  The Bartender says "no sir, i don't!"  then the duck asks... "well then, do you have any grapes?"
