204 Ruger 14"ontender LOADS???
« on: February 13, 2009, 06:00:04 PM »
I just got this bbl and 2 boxes of Hornady ammo. I am not excited about how the factory ammo is doing-My 17REM shoots circles around the 204. I bought a bunch of Varmit Granades and I am about to load . I have most every powder except R10X and that is the only accurate load I got from Barns in a RIFLE. SO is anyone shooting the 14" 204 and would you like to share loading info? Thanks, J.Michael  uncowboy@comcast.net

I never got one because of the reports of awful muzzle blast from the .204 in a pistol barrel.  I have a rifle barrel and it shoots well.  Are you getting lots of blast from your barrel?  Could that be part of the problem?  When it first came out one of the custom barrel makers couldn't supply speed information from his equipment because the blast kept knocking over the crono.

Well you sure know when it goes off but it was not nearly as bad as all the hype I read. There were two other fellas on the range when I took it out and I warned them about it becaise they only had ear plugs and they didn't scare away. I am planning on downloading the varmit granades some but I was looking for some short cuts. J.Michael
