Daisy 22 lr
« on: February 15, 2009, 09:08:25 AM »
The pawnshop that I frequently stop by to look at guns at has had a 22lr semi auto rifle made by Daisy. Does anyone know anything about these? I think it looks more like a Ruger 1022 than anything else. It has been there on the gun rack for several months. Are they any good? Thanks, Charlie

I have the model 8 single shot and it is about the bare minimum
that one could actually call a firearm. It weighs hardly nothing
and that is the reason I bought it. straps to a backpack frame
and you hardly know it is there. accuracy is sufficient to pop rabbits
at 30 or 40 yards but thats about it. It is kind of a rare piece as
Daisy only made cartridge arms for a couple of years.

I went back today and looked at it again. It's a bolt action instead of a semi auto. It has an octagon barrel. It feels cheaply made but maybe that is because it's so light.

They are  (can't really say cheap), lets just say they were made with
"economy" in mind. Unless you are wanting it as a collection piece,
I would honestly spend your money on something better. you will probably
be disappointed with it's accuracy.

I have one of the Daisy bolt actions myself. It is indeed about the lowest level of workmanship I would call a rifle. Most of the gun is plastic and cast aluminium. It has a barrel nut that takes down the barrel and a detachable trigger assembly. The only reason I have it is that it is on the rare side. Accuracy also sucks! ;)
