If it were me, I'd check the action and bore to see all is OK.  All things equal, I would then check the Ser. numbers to see if either is new enough for the barrel program.  If neither/both are elligible for the program, then its "buyer's choice", but if only one is elligible for the barrel program, then I would get that one.
OR
Just get the one that "trips YOUR trigger" and forget about all the other stuff.  Either way, I don't think you can go wrong, at those prices.

I'd buy both if you need a 12 ga. What are you going to use it for? How long is the barrel on the camo NEF.

well i called NEF TODAY ---- ;D ;D and the NEF camo is a 1996 model( which will be good for the barrel program), i picked it up as a "drive out" price of 65 bucks :D, w/23 Speer bullets in a old original yellow paper box with metal corners 250 grain :o....for my 35 cal. which he threw in to sweeten the deal. I will measure the barrel tomorrow.

If possible I would go get the 30in also. It would be a great gun to do some barrel modifications on .To make a short, light, slug gun for example.

Hey Moose buddy, count up and save your pennies and buy the 30" barreled one as well. You could always sell that great old long barrel and then have another frame to build on. And I agree, PLEASE don't cut down that great old long barrel for slugs....<><....:)
