New Marlin 336 XLR followed me home!
« on: February 20, 2009, 04:22:16 PM »
Well, I went to Sportmans Warehouse today to pick up reloading supplies and guess what jumped out at me a new Marlin XLR in 30-30. Always wanted one and I will give it a good home ;) Can't wait to shoot it waiting for mounts and rings for my new addition. I will let you know how it shoots soon I hope!

I was on a road trip in the past two weeks and stopped in a Sportmen’s Warehouse.  I can see why you bought one.  I asked to look at the Marlin XLR in 30-30.  It has a real nice balance, and should be a fine rifle in the woods.  Congratulations!

Shiptons just got the 338's in.  Handled the blue and the stainless, both felt good.  Why would they put a nice pad on the lam. stock and not on the walnut ????   Haven't been able to find the hole to justify the cash outlay right now for one :-\.  That choice was made easier by there not being any ammo in town for the 338 Marlin ;).  Gonna be hard to move em with no ammo or empty cases. :-[  DP

dpe.ahoy I looked at the 308 Marlin but it was easy for me to turn it down because there was no ammo or reloading dies. The 30-30 Win was on sell and I can find ammo almost any place for it. Hope you get one dpe.ahoy good luck  :)

Don't need another 30-30.  Have 3 of them and a 30-30AI.  Really would like to try a 338 Marlin, but have it kinda surrounded with the 444, 35 rem and 38-55.  7mm-08 in a BLR for the reach with a lever, just can't find that hole that has to be filled.  Still, it would be, NO, not now!  Just need to go shoot what I have to get over this cabin fever.  DP
