RCBS equipment question
« on: February 21, 2009, 01:43:20 PM »
I have been watching ebay for awhile now, just seeing what used stuff is going for. In regards to the RCBS equipment, I have noticed alot of it has a finish color that is like a pale or faded aqua color (really strugguling with a color description) and some seems to be a darker green color. I have come to the assumption that the faded color is older equipment and the dark green is more recently manufactured.

Is this a correct assumption and if so, anyone know about when RCBS made the color switch?

I believe sometime in the mid to late 80's. There really hasn't been too many changes in RCBS equipment to worry about. It's kind of foolish to pay current price for something made 25 years ago so base you decision upon that.

I have been using RCBS for about 50 years now and have their equipment that was purchased all through that time frame. The older equipment had a darker krinkle type of finish and the newer has a lighter smooth finish. They have one of the best warranties in the industry.

For whatever it's worth I wouldn't worry about the color other than for basing a price. That stuff doesn't wear out.
