How many of you remember this?
« on: February 21, 2009, 06:00:56 PM »
This was in my opinion, likly one of the best TV series ever. I remember being in high school and never wanting to miss the weekly 1 hour time slot on prime time. It was done like a continuous running series. Almost like a 3 year mini series. Sadly, it only lasted for 3 seasons (1976 to 1979) but no deniying it was one of the best ever. I never forgot this TV show and always thought it would be great to see it reapear. Of course it would never work with todays audiance. I found an outfit that has the entire series on DVD so I may pick it up for $80.

What a shame that shows like this will never be made again. Never.... Very sad. Here's a trailer on the opening of the show. Great music and scenery.

The point was to get people to click on the link. It takes you to a Youtube clip. The name of the show was How The West Was Won.

Its not that hard for folks to just click and watch. It only takes a few minuets and as I said its a pretty good clip.

Yep remember it well. There where a lot of shows like this and most were good to watch. The things we watched as kids growing up didn't effect us nearly as much as what kids watch today.

I was surprised to see that James Arness is still alive. He had the role of Zeb.

I loved that show. Where is it available? I might splurge just to get to watch it again. I wonder why Encore Westerns doesn't show it as a series again?

If you guys really want to see the whole series and have a few GB of hard drive to spare I can tell you how to download it for free. You then could burn it to a disk. Dale

First go here and download ABC.
http://pingpong-abc.sourceforge.net/download.php
You will need a player to play it and this is the best free on out there. So go here and download  the VLC player.
http://www.videolan.org/
Then go to this site and download the series.
http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=How+the+west+was+won
It may take you a few of days to download the whole series because it is a very large file and there are not a lot seeders for it. Dale

I think I'll wait until it's in the dollar rack at Walmart next to the Steve Reeve's Hercules videos, and the Three Stooge's disc's.  gypsyman

Actually torpedoman, this is one time I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I have 2 boys, 7 and 10, that think the 3 stooge's are great. One of their favorite movies is Daniel Boone, where the Indian is played by Lon Cheney, the actor that played the Wolfman. I rummage thru that bin every once in awhile. gypsyman
