the only advantage to a scooter is they are easy on gas. they have all the weaknesses of a motorcycle, and none of the strengths.
i am not huffy about it, but scooter people can have them.

My favorite 'scoot' is my 73 FLH shovel that I made to fit me, still have the points to change and all the other H-D tightnings and adjustments to do but I must like it . Had it down to the frame 7 times since 76 when I got it as a bagger.
Kinda partial to my "ol Girl" 1936 VL , got this one about 10 yr. ago . She's about 95% orig and don't have many tailgators with my exxon valdeeze oilin system, finally got back at my buddies makin fun of me ridin a "NEW" one.
Best Bike I had was the one under my bag at the time. Had some guy on a hopped up honda tell me "thats the first Harley that ever past me" told him that was'nt the last either,some people got no sence of ha ha, nice bike he had , and I told him so.
I'll work on some pic's , miracals happen daily , might even work on my spellin

The best bike I ever owned or should I say, had the most fun with, was my 250 Bultaco Pursang. I raced the AMA District 16 Motocross Circuit with it for a few seasons, and then for cross country races I'd swap gas tanks with my Frontera and race those too. It was very versatile and just plain fun to ride.

great fun ! makes you a better rider too.
but my ol' 00' harley ultra with 150k is the perfect bike for me, really enjoy riding her.
looking very forward to this summmer, putting around here in missouri.

Know what you mean buckweet. I had a 350 Bultaco Sherpa T and it was blast, except I had a hard time getting used to the shift lever being on the right side and the brake lever being on the left side. It was opposite of every other bike I had owned. Trails bikes give a whole new meaning to learning how to balance properly.

personaly ? my biggest problem with the old montessa. was i could not stay outta the mud.. !!! hoo weeee !!! what fun !! thing was like a tractor !
and it spent most of its life riding me !!! ha !! but at those slow speeds, i never got hurt too bad, limp around a few days i be ok, jump back on.. ha !! maybe i gets another one someday..weet

I too have enjoyed great service from the Hondas I've riden. It seams the japs do a great job on producing trouble free transportation, bikes as well as cars. Just change the oil, and put gas in them and ride.

My new Kawasaki is good so far. I do need to put some octain boost in it's fuel. Seams to be tuned for the high octain fuel which isn't available at our one pump station here on the island. But other than that it's been trouble free.

Do you still ride your goldwing?

I bought my GW new in 1975 from a Honda dealer in Kenai, and i made two major trips on it, both down the ALCAN hi-way... One was 15,000 miles before i got home, and the other was 12,300. The only thing that broke on it, was a spedometer cable. I went about another mile down the road that there was a Honda dealer! I stopped in, bought a new cable, installed it and was on my way. How's that for reliable? Anyway, some years ago i parked my Gold Wing in the barn, and i no longer ride it.

I am bias toward my Moto Guzzi, see post on any other Guzzi riders out there. Concerning the Suzuki Burgman 650, have no mistake about it that is a serious riding bike. A friend of mine in his 60s has done several 1,000 mile + days on one. They will cruise 80+ all day long and are no slouch in the acceleration department either.

Just read thru this whole thread. Got to laugh a lot over the last few minutes.

I've ridden little ding-ding-dingers

all the way up thru the HD Baggers.

The only one I kept was a 81 80" FLH shovelhead bought new in March 82 and still in the garage. Needs a little TLC

and I'll have her on the road again. Sat for a while while Uncle Sugar kept me out of pocket. Only left me on the side of the road once

, broke a push rod, set of Sifton pushrods and turned the lifters into solids and no more trouble there. Majic box converted to points and condensor and 6 cyl Chevy points available at any parts store.

Next bike will be a used Beemer for the long road trips, back don't want to play bouncy bouncy no more.

Have always wanted to built/assemble and old school rigid/springer pan with stomper clutch and under seat shifting (old HD riders will call it something else though), just for bar hopping and around town profiling. Yeah, back won't like but I'll go slow and dodge the bumps.

Actually Richard this post has stood out in my mind all this time and prompted my statement concerning being friendly to hunters who ride in my thread "are you a biker who hunts or a hunter who rides". But I would not a gone to the trouble to bring it back to the top were it not for deernhogs friendly remarks.

Myronman3, Sorry but I don't view this as a cheap shot but rather an attempt to improve our forum. If we showed some interest in others rides and hunting maybe they would stick around. If we are truely comfortable with who we are why do we need to put others who are a little different down.

Could not care less what anyone rides. Mechanicked on all brands from 79 till about 85 or 6 and unless you have worked in a dealership have probably rode more different bikes , brands, types and sizes than you wil in your life in a week.
I like em all, Olt turnips are cool rides specially pre-unit construction, Nortons are bad to the bone rugged old bikes, Royal enfields were strange beasts with the trick neutral finder lever on the case above the normal shift. Also liked the little lever that let you know what gear you wuz in. Nuthin sounds like a good runnin Trident with a set of good pipes on it . Beemers were the road rocket till Honda introduced the Goldwing in 75, Beezers were the worst brit bikes to work on , Moto G's V7 sport was a blast to ride. I have rode most of em in all their sizes and they all have their goods and bads. Have never been brand loyal , but I do have preferences in order from most to less desirable.
Haven't even touched on the several hundred Jap brands I have wrung out and enjoyed. But I will never forget the first CBX I ever had the chance to ride. Awsome bike but was a killer on chains ,and I never could get used to the weird slipping clutch alternator sound .
Ah but the very first Goldwing I ever rode captured my heart like no other and today I have 2 , The old wing 77 bobber and the 88 decked out bagger. Guess I am set for life.

Best bike I ever owned... was an '83 Suzuki GS1100E. Great styling, good handling, King Kong motor... and good with a passenger. It was, of course, red. Looked just like this, except I didn't have a tail rack on mine...

This is titled Bikers who hunt and shoot , not Scootter dudes who hunt and shoot. There are a lot of on here that run from the word biker like it's a disease and that is there choice but they are on bikes. While I have never claimed to be a biker I have never been ashamed to be referred to as one. Just don't like scooters sorry. BTW I am truly comfortable with who I am and don't need no reflecting to know it.
