Author Topic: Best Bike I have ever owned (Read 5010 times)

I get 60mpg mixed hi-way and local riding. Better wind and weather protection than all but a few motorcycles. With added trunk I have more storage space than most touring bikes. Handling is similar to a cruiser type bike. Easily cruises on the hi-way at 75mph - top speed around 95-100mph. Simple to maintain and tires are inexpensive. Fuel injected and automatic transmission. Very comfortable and probably has the best headlights of any bike I've personally owned. Just as enjoyable to ride as any motorcycle I've ever owned or ridden, but different! Costs around $6K.

Nice scooter.

My favorite bike was a 1979 sportster, shaved heads, heavy cams and drag pipes. My neighbors loved me.

nice looking bike, but i like to haul the wife and her junk around for 2-3 weeks at a time and i need all the bags i can get, best one i ever had was a 67 electraglide. rode it 20 yrs (with a lot of fixing)

I made the decision over 10 years ago that a motorcycle would be my primary means of transportation, not just a toy for weekends. I've had dual sports, cruisers and sport bikes.
Dual sports were fine except in the winter time when dressed in cold weather gear I had a heck of a time getting on the high seats. Not the best thing on the highway either.
Cruisers and me don't get along. I want to ride not polish and clean. Don't care for the foot forward riding position all the time either.
Sport bikes are a heck of a lot of fun except during maintenance time. Also the riding position gets tough on longer trips. Not much room for storage either.

A little over a year ago I totaled my sport bike and was looking for a bike for daily riding and commuting. I figured I would buy a maxi scooter until I decided what I really wanted. After having this thing for awhile I've decided I don't need anything else. Its like a Toyota - you just start it up and go. 60 liters of under seat storage plus a 36 liter top box gives me all the room I need for daily uses including picking up some groceries. I can also fit 2 sets of saddle bags on it for trips. Its very stable on the highway yet still nimble in traffic. It never bothered me shifting, but not shifting is even better especially in traffic. It has all hand controls so I can put my feet anywhere I want and don't have leg cramping anymore.

I bought this thing to have something to ride until I figured out what motorcycle to get and have decided for my needs its better than any motorcycle I've ever owned.

I think they're a pretty neat scoot, but not something I'd ride flying colors... or wearing leathers... or long pants...

I actually had a lot of fun riding a scooter up in Michigan through the woods. Actually it was a moped and many years ago. I borrowed it from my aunt to go down the road and took the long way back. She was not happy.

i have riden fatboys, springers,wideglides,roadkings, and an old 73 superglide (AMF) that was a trip!

The best ride I had was a 93 eclectraglide I took off the winebago box and put on a super after market seat with a back rest. I could ride that machine all day. Even had EXXon pay me 38 cents a mile to ride it to Rhode Island for simulator training.

Now that ride is not very manly but you would not find me leaving it and walking. In fact I would fight ya for it so's I did not have to walk.

I'd have to say it's the one I have at present a 2000 harley roadking classic. Was looking at an old easyrider mag I have april-87 and they did a road test on a jap bike it was a yamaha which I have had two of and liked. Wish it had been a honda they did the test on. That scooter looks like a lounge chair, very comfortable.

I currently own and ride the best bike I ever owned. It's a 2002 Yamaha Roadstar 1600 Midnight. I would love to own a Harley but I just can't pay that kind of money to hang with the Harley crowd. I get bumped to the end of the pack when I ride with my Harley buddies. I wonder where you get put if you tried running that scooter with the Harley guys!!!

My brother rode a 02 roadstar for four years hard and never had to do anything but change the oil, gas it up and go. He replaced the rear brake pads and that was the only thing mechanic that was ever done. Good bike.

Yes, I do love my Rodie. I guess that is why I have it so long. For a rice burner it is a nice bike. I think so, anyway.

I don't care for the church cult here in Topeka either. But this is where i was born and raised so I have dealt with them for my entire life.

I gotta feeling iffin' you were 100 miles from home, cold and hungry, and one of those scooters was sitting there with a full tank of gas and it could get you home in an hour and a half, you'd sing a different tune.

Again to each their own. You dance with who ya bring. If that's all you can afford or all you feel confident riding, so be it. I don't trash other folks rides just like I don't trash their guns or their mothers.

?? has focused on Oklahoma to show thier opinion on several issues. At least if they are down here you don't have to put up with them. The demonstrations at funerals for KIA soldiers really scolds my ass.

Worked on bikes for about 7 years , have owned several . Rode about all of em. All the Jap , most Brits, Italian , German and Harleys.

By far the most comfortable and one I would pick for a long ride would be a Goldwing. Had a 81 Interstate and really miss it . Soon as the house is paid for I am looking for a flat 6 15 or 1800 bagger to retire on.

Had a chance on a 78 that looked like new about 1 month ago. I mean cherry. little over 17 000 miles . Just have another wing on my mind . Guy that had it just cleaned the carbs and replaced a scraped sidecover , clutch and brake lever and now has sold it for 1200. Now why didn't I think of that. resale thing . KICK KICK

FYI... A Suzuki Burgman 650 or a Honda Silverwing 600 scooter would probably walk all over your Harley in a stoplight dragrace.
