Ruger SBH Hunter .45c value?

Sorry about another ... "what is this worth?" post but I would appreciate some feedback as I simply am not sure. I bought this Hunter new in 2004 and have run approximately 150 handloads through it. No marks on it and never mounted a scope. I bought it to use for my "next" boar hunt but I never did. What would you ask for it if it were yours to sell?

  Reportedly there's only 603 of those produced although I thought more were added later on.  Regardless they're not a commonly seen model.  Value...hard to say as I haven't been paying attention to them lately.  I know I wouldn't take less than $600 for mine if I were to sell it (which I'm not). 
  Check completed auctions on GunBroker and Auction Arms and see what any were bid up to or sold at.

Thank you for the info. A friend of mine said he saw one sell on some obscure web site (??) for around $700.00. I have been offered trades and just wasn't sure what to do ... especially not knowing an approximate value.

I just bought a SBH Bisley Hunter (stainless) with a Bushnell 3200 2x7 scope for $600.  Another member here offered to sell me his SBH Bisley Hunter, also scoped, also for $600.  But I hesitated and he decided to keep it!   ;D

A friend called me from a gunshow last weekend to tell me there was a used SBH Hunter there.  He obviously didn't know I had bought one and also forgot I wanted a Bisley, and I don't rememeber what the guy wanted but it was considerably less then what I paid for the Bisley.  Maybe the value of the scope...  :-\

  Ahh but were these the common and cataloged .44 magnum Hunters? Those prices seem about slightly evevated for that one.

I realized that BJM's was a .45 after I posted.   :-[  I didn't even know they made the Hunter in 45!   :o  And I don't remember it being cataloged; is it?

Anyway, mine is a 44 Mag.  I found a number of the SBH Hunters like BJM's but in 44 mag.  I had to look for a while before I found the Bisley version.  And you're right, compared to the SBH the Bisley prices are slightly elevated.   Just my luck :(  But I'm real happy with it!   ;D

I would love to have one in 45, I have a 44 but only because I couldn't find the 45.  Don't get rid of it especially if you reload, that caliber has great performance in a gun strong enough.

The SBH gripframe has the square back to the trigger guard.  The going rate is $650 to $800 depending on condition currently retail; wholesale is only $350 to $450 depending on condition.  Wholesale is what the chain gunstores will give in trade or pawn shops will pay max.

  Actually there's more than the square back (Dragoon) grip frame for the SBH's.  The  Super Blackhawk Hunter  features the same grip frame with a rounded trigger guard.  Can't really call it a SBH grip frame just becasue of the square back trigger gaurd either as some brass framed BH's had this style.

The SBH has more flair to the bottom of the backstrap, just like the old Colt Dragoons. In fact, Elmer Keith was always griping about Bill Ruger calling it a Super Blackhawk, instead of a Dragoon.

All the 4&5/8" and 5.5" bbl. versions I've seen have a rounded trigger guard. None of the Hunter Models have the square back.
