WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Democrats unveiled a $410 billion spending bill on Monday to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year, setting up the second political struggle over federal funds in less than a month with Republicans.

The measure includes thousands of earmarks, the pet projects favored by lawmakers but often criticized by the public in opinion polls. There was no official total of the bill's earmarks, which accounted for at least $3.8 billion.

One thing to say F that. You know that stamps are being raised 2 cents to. But for no good reason just to pay for the head of the post offices $250,000 raise. Just another way for our goverment to help them selfs and screw us. Now that Obama is pres what the hell gives him the right to spend all this money we dont have. We are in debt enough as it is. By time he's done american money will have no value. You cant just keep printing money to fit certian peoples needs.

just a mere statistic at this point...when you are speaking trillions with every other word. the mention of billions has no effect..and that is what they want..no shock any more... just acceptance.

Just think about the fact that the new administration has spend more in the past month than George Bush spent in 5 years in Iraq and Afganistan. Obama wants to bring down our national debt, but has doubled it in his first month.
Don't think it is finished yet!! We have only seen the beginning. Thre are a lot more projects to be funded. As Obama has said, any money spent on healthcare so far is a "down payment" on what is to come, just in that area.

You haven't seen anything yet, the first spending packages were only to pay back people who got him in there...remember, he gathered up more money than anyone in history running for the exec office...payback time folks. From there it will go on and on...probably already working on the next election....hey it takes a lot of money to be president. I also notice it takes a lot of money to celebrate winning! From here on it it gets worse...the more the country is torn down and held down, the more freedoms we will lose. We can only hope some states will protect themselves as a whole by passing their own legislation and trying to stay away. Red states have the best chance...blue states are gonners I'm afraid. I guess I'm stuck for now paying for other people's houses that are bigger than mine until I can move...and I can't move until the price of my house creeps up a tad. Can't touch my retirement money, they have that as well...and it's getting smaller and smaller...you would at least think they would let me have that before it's gone. Tried to talk my wife into getting a divorce and transfering all of it to her...then getting remarried after she cashed it out...but she won't have any of that. I find myself just trying to think of ways to get my own money...LOL!! Now that's sad! I try to keep my humor, but I find myself getting angry more now. I think I'll have a drink of spiced rum, before they outlaw that too.

Didn't you say in a different thread yesterday "I consider myself democratic"? What then is it about being a democrat that you agree with?

Sorry cabin4 I believe I was asking someone else that question. I believe there is a difference too, but if you look up his post (in a thread about the assault weapons ban) you will see why I asked him that. Democrat and Republicans in this new gov't are so close now you can't even tell the difference. The true measure of political views is liberal or conservative. I think he really wanted to say he was a liberal since we are both putting words in other peoples mouths.

Look at the timeline of the recent porky pig bill that was passed by the socialist pigs in congress and signed into law by the liberal socialist pig Obama. If you examine the time line of events, it mostly designed to impact in 2011. In addition, it will require some states to increase state taxes in 2011 to keep pace with the defunding process in the porky pig bill. So, if you are a state governor in office in 2011, you will be required to raise your state taxes to pay for the continuation of the services started by the Obama porky pig bill. Very interesting how all this happens in 2011.... Obama running for reelection..

Now say you’re going to run against Obama in 2012, Who's going to run against Obama in 2012? Most like it will be a Republican Gov..... well guess what you have to explain to the American people.... Why did you raise taxes and if you did not raise the taxes, why are you cutting services to your state?

The timeline of events and the way this porky pig bill works is genius for Obama.
