older model 1894 won't feed 44 specials
« on: February 24, 2009, 08:50:23 AM »
I have an older model 1894 (micro-groove model) that will reliably feed 44 mags but won't feel specials.
I have tried only jacketed bullets in various weights and soft and hollow point style and this makes no difference. All is well until you try to feed a special. It looks like the infamous "marlin Jam" but it only happens with specials. I looked at the sticky on the "jam" and have checked the gun and therre are no sharp edges on the lever cam and no score marks in the carrier. It jams with two cartridges in the carrier, one half way out of the magazine. I don't want to waste money on a new carrier and still have the same problem. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks in  advance.
