New update on my 608(Angry Now)

 Stopped by my gun shop today and behold/Taurus did not pick up my gun last week on will call thru fedex like they said. My gunsmith called and taurus had no clue. I called 2 times, 1st time waited 15 min and got cut off and 2nd time they at first said it was fixed?????? Then they said the will call may have been misplaced?????? I got very angry and pretty much decided at that point to let them know all my taurus guns are for sale now and I will encourage others not to buy any. The CS rep had no gun knowledge and pretty much shucked me off because it was 4:51 pm. They are looking into it!!!! This pretty much made me a believer into the poor CS of taurus. I have owned them since 1991 and this is the 1st time dealing with them and I will never again after this is corrected.

Sooner or later most all Taurus owners get to that same point unless they just happen to be one of the lucky few who gets a gun that works OK and they need no customer service. Once the need for that arrives it's generally the beginning of the end.

Taurus needs to do the same thing we need to do in DC. Fire the whole crew and start over anew.

Boy do I feel your pain!  And trust me... it's just starting!    >:(  I'm sure you read my post on my last call to Taurus CS.  At least this time the rep I talked to, who remembered talking to me before and was the one I stated was a nice young fellow, promised me he would personally see that the parts got shipped.  He also gave me his (first) name and telephone extension.  Ever the optimist, I await my part which I am sure will arive within 10 days like promised.  :-\  I mean, after 4 months, whats a few more days?   ::)

I did that around three or four years ago at least after a very disappointing round with TC's Customer Service folks. In the past they had always been great but to me that seemed to change and since my interests had also changed I decided it was time for me to part with all my Contenders.

I guess it's just another sign of the times Will'am.   :-\  No pride in workmanship or their product...  no pride in one's employment... no desire to keep up the company image...   :(

I understand Ruger doesn't even have a warrentee on their products but will bend over backward for you if you have a problem.  Is that correct?

(please note how I deftly switched the point of this thread away from Taurus's shortcomings!   ;D  I tell ya, I shoulda been a politician!   :D  )

Now wait.... you said Taurus did not pick up your gun on will call thru FedEx? Ah did FedEx notify Taurus your gun was at FedEx, or are you just assuming they did?  I got to ask, why was it not shipped directly to Taurus?

Did you get the guy's name you were speaking with?  You say he had no gun knowledge because maybe he could not help you with your situation at the end of the day.  Now what have you done today in calling them back?

Look I know your pissed off, and you wrote this pissed off blaming Taurus for everything.

Yes , We have all the tracking info/service order numbers/names of all talked to/and i use my gunsmith for all my transactions because I like to have the FFL I bought it from involved. Fedex was used and no, taurus never advised them to re-pick it up as promised. Gun is not at fedex but at gun dealer. Dont get me wrong, I have never had a problem with Taurus since buying them starting in 1991 and they all shoot great but the CS is non-exsistant. Peroid. By the way, called today and got put on hold 22 minutes and just hung up/Gun shop called and finally got to the recording area and after leaving a message, it said cannot process at this time?????? I am not mad any longer but my opinion is still the same especially after today,,,again/no customer service.

don't feel like the lone ranger , had the same issues with Browning , Winchester and Taurus .
Ruger on several repairs were great . TC was good 10 years ago but now S&W has them , Had good and bad experinces with S&W .

Just curious was all that is why I asked, as I have heard simalar issues with other manufactures as well.  I don't think there is one gun manufacture that has 100% reliable customer service, and that is why gunsmiths have a job to do.

had the same issues with Browning , Winchester and Taurus .

When I was making the rounds of gunshops looking for a screw I was complaing to one dealier about the lack of CS.  He said pretty much the same thing as you.  Especially the part about S&W.  In his opinion, ALL manufacturers CS is terrible nowadays!   :(

both browning and winchester " had to repair new guns " both were shipped back with broken stocks after they repaired them for other problems . The browning would not set the second trigger on an O/U , gun went back 3 times . I took it to the skeet field , found the problem and 14 mos. later got to shoot it again . The rest of the time it was at the repair shop or shipping . Winchester had to replace the gun twice and only took 4 mos. S&W fixed 2 guns great , however on a 357 j frame the little boss that keeps the cyl from comming off when the gun is open was to thin and during speed loads you often knock the cyl far enough back to keep it from closing , they say it is in spec. and will do nothing .

Just got off the phone with MIKE at taurus (only 15 min wait)and he was actually very nice and said looking at my service order #, nothing after the guns return was done. He apologized and said he would personnally insure it is picked up tomorrow. He gave me ext #s to call if it is not and said it would be repaired properly. Hopefully, I just got ahold of some temp help or sales people LOL :D,,,,, Talked to my gun shop and advised them to be prepared and the owner told me something interesting. They have been fighting with Mossberg over some warranty issues so I guess I shoundnt be too upset(only own 2 mossbergs) and that it must just be the state of the industry now. We will see tomorrow,,,,Art( If it does not get picked up I think I will just have my "smith" repair it and tune it up a little and be done with it)

Now ain't that sumpin!  Like I said in my other post, I got the same thing last time I called (2/23/09)!   :o  'cept my CR was Derrick... and it took me 4 months or so to get that decent treatment.   :(   Let's see if they follow up.   :-\

Anyway, Mike did coordinate my gun pick up and apologized and it is on the way back and I hope it gets repaired this time. That is the extention I have and the only CS Tec I deal with.

Well, here we go again. Just got off the phone with my gunsmith and Taurus has recieved my gun which was sent in a few weeks back for the second time and not fixed. Mike said he would take care of it. Well, my smith got a bill from Fed Ex yesterday stating Taurus was not paying for it to be sent back and they said no will call was ever agreed on. Duh????? Mike assured me it was all taken care of??? As usual, he tried 3 times to get ahold of Taurus and to no avail. Not taking messages or put on long hold. This is going to get ugly I believe,,,,cant beat good customer service :-\    I know what yer thinking GB,,,,, ;D

Gunshop called today and said my gun was back. Went down there this evening and my self and my smith opened er up and behold,,,NOT FIXED! Still can turn the cylinder after it is closed and will not stay in time. Man does this %$#$% or what. Gonna call some different numbers tomorrow and gonna try to get this resolved. Back 3 times for same thing and still coming back the same problem. TAURUS CS ,,,yea whatever!!!! GB you are so right!!!!!! ;D

For what it's worth, the way I finally got action on mine was I explained to them who the heck I wuz and just how big this site is and that they were about to get pounded here and that it would be in their best interest to make my problems go away to minimize the impact.

Explain to them that you are laying this out to the entire world on the Taurus Forum on a site that has over 31,000 registered members and gets close to 100,000 unique visitors per month and that until it's taken care of to your satisfaction it's gonna keep being brought to the attention of everyone who comes here.

It worked for me.

Well, got ahold of Mike at Taurus this morning and this gets interesting. First he tells me getting upset wont cure anything in which he is right. Then he tells me to bear with him because he is on the tail end this one?????(I have talked to him more than once about this issue and my gun shop has spoke with him also) Then he says he is going to treat this as a new warranty claim and go from scratch. I explained it has been back 3 times for the same issue. So I have my gunshop call him to give him all the info because they have all the paperwork from day one since I bought it up thru all the warranty issues. The last thing he tells me is that this may go in front of a review board/whatever that means but I stated this is the last time it goes back for the so called lifetime warranty. So, they are getting it back for the fourth time, we will see what happens.... ???

I had a two model 608 357's years ago and both had problems.  After the first had problems I upgraded to a longer barreled version and it had similar problems.  I went down the road to a local gunsmith instead of sending it back to the factory, because they were small fixes.  I've long since sold the other 608 too and I'll probably never buy another taurus unless a miracle happens.

I wont go into detail,but, I only ever owned one Taurus product, a PT908,and it too was shipped back to Miami 3 times,and each and every time it came back to me , it had a letter detailing the repairs made. It never functioned properly, It was a POS. I'll never purchase another Taurus again. Not worth the agrivation.

Well, called Mike at Taurus today to find out the status on my gun. He said that nothing has been done and they are waiting for it to go in front of a board for possible replacement. I asked when and he said they do not have a board for onesies and twosies. He said when enough are ready then they will have the board. He stated he did not know a time frame. Lifetime warranty but takes 3 times back starting last year for them to figure out it is the same problem and cant be fixed and now got to wait at their convieniance to get it replaced,,,,,,no more Taurus for me after this!!!!
