I am more than ready for spring. I am afraid it is close to 2 months before the bigger northern lakes lose their ice, sure hope its earlier than last year.

I don't do spring beaver, but I'm more than ready for the weather to start warming. I like to fish the spring walleye run and I'll probably try to shoot a turkey again. I always spend at least a few days wandering around looking for morrels. So yes there are things to do in the spring and I'm ready to start.

How many skunks this year Mac?  Going to work the other day when it was  about 38 degrees in morning, i came upon 7 skunks  on side of road ,  three on one side on gravel and four on other side , each  group huddled together on gravel side of  road.  No road kill there.  Trapped that area for canines and didnt catch one skunk. But evidently there  was  and is a passel of skunks that denned up there.

The skunk numbers here must be down right along with the coon, I only caught 3 during my week on the coon line. I ended up my weeks vacation with 43 coon and the 3 skunks, which is about half what I would normally do in that time. I didn't set for canines this year and was coming to the last couple days of my water line when my dad passed away. I never got back out on the line after that because there was so much to deal with my mom.

I was surprised to see so many guys crying about the NAFA sale, yes it was disapointing from last spring.
But heck I had a 4.67 ave on my 3 skunks which doesn't seem that far off. One was and almost all black clunker that brought the ave down on all 3 O-well. They didn't sell only half of the 43 coon and bought the rest back. But the ones that sold ave 18.73 which isn't the 30.00 something ave from last year, but a couple bucks above the 15.00 something ave the last several years. I guess if I had to rely on it as a serious part of my income I would be very disapointed as others are. But for me it is just what I choose to do during my fall vacations. So less income from it just means less money to put back into NTA trip and next falls play toys.

We had a sick coon wander into the parking lot at work the other day. Boss called animal control / local Human Society, was fun to watch them two gals handle that little coon. He was so sick and slow I'm sure I could have picked him up by the scruff of the neck like a cat. One of the ladies catch poled him around the middle and rangled him into a cage. Was funny watching her try to get the catch pole off the mid section of that little coon slow as he was.

Should see you in Wausau in a couple weeks.
