Lead Safe bullets for 45 LC
« on: February 27, 2009, 03:52:30 AM »
I just purchased a Marlin CB and an Uberti 1873 in 45 LC and was wondering what you would recommend for bullets. I really don't want to mess with lead when reloading. I was hoping someone would have a recommendation. I see Midway is having a sale on Ranier and they have a .451 diameter for use with 45 ACP but would this work in the 45 LC that is generally listed as .452. Is that enough of a difference to make a difference?

That Uberti is a very weak design. Be sure you DO NOT push it hard. Stick to black powder pressure levels in it. In other words use loads from the Colt section of loading manuals for it exclusively. Lead is the most appropriate choice of bullets for it as well and no I'd not want to use .451" in either really.
