Winchester Model 43 Help
« on: February 27, 2009, 05:54:38 AM »
I've got a Mod 43 22 hornet.

The bolt action is not very smoothe when compared to newer guns.... almost diffacutl at times.  Is this just because the gun is old?

Anyone know how to remove the bolt for beter cleaning?

Any advise on how to make the bolt action more smoothe?

Thanks.

To remove the bolt, raise the bolt handle, then check for an empty chamber.
Pull the trigger, and while holding the trigger back, withdraw the bolt out to the rear.

It may just need a good cleaning, followed by proper lubrication.

The M-43 is basically a re-inforced rimfire Model 69A on steriods, i.e. it has two locking lugs ILO one, is larger/heavier, and has a different magazine catch.
