Mossberg 44
« on: February 27, 2009, 02:12:23 PM »
Anyone own a 44?  I've wanted one of these for years!!!
I need a little Graybeard magic to rub off on me here. I waiting to hear back from a seller who has a 44 marked US Property with mossberg sights that was purchased from the CMP in the 50's. Army trainer I suspect. It was his dad's (Don't ask me why he would sell it). It's listed as 98% blue and wood looks perfect from the picture. It also lists the bore as being sharp. $275
The first bid, minutes before my I'll take it" is questionable due to lack of funds. Heading home from work now to check my reply on a local board that I can't access here. -gary

It appears I was mistaken. The US Property mark on it was a question by another inquiring about it. It's a civilian Mossberg 44a. True the CPM has them for $200 shipped but they don't come with a clip and most have had cracked trigger guards and missing the safe/fire (Green-Red) indicator. Off to check it out. If it's as clean as advertised in almost new condition, I'll be a happier than a pig in it.
I've been wanting another accurate 22 bolt! -gary

From my gun club, a lot of the kids are getting them a few months ago and have seen the opposite quality and also stated by CMP web site itself. Conflicting the
"but show little evidence of use" statment.
Are your reports resent torpedo?

It's nice and clean. I picked it up today and cleaned it inside and out. Taking it for a range test tomorrow if it doesn't rain to hard tomorrow. If I can confirm new better quality, I may pick up a second for the boy. -g
